One good example of vision and strategy all set is General Electric (GE) through the leadership of Jack Welch. When Jack Welch became CEO of GE which listed dozens of very variety of businesses, he developed this list visions for GE:

Of course applying a vision without strategy could not work. Then he rigorously implemented an insurance quote that divested businesses that weren't either market sponsor or number two. He implemented "6 Sigma" projects across all GE to operate a vehicle efficiency and make KENMORE a lean and movable organization. A strict performance management system was developed and everyone at GE had numerical goals. Success of men and women was measured strictly by his achievement of non-public goals.

Successful leaders perfect not only at setting visions but also at "walking the talk" which really brings about successful.
